The goal of the study was to provide the Township with several alternatives and associated costs to effectively improve the existing stormwater management along Hawthorne Drive, alleviating public concerns. The project was designed to minimize impact to private property, existing landscaping and mature street trees valued by the community.
Emphasis was placed on Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) practices while considering all environmental and socio-economic factors. To assess potential management strategies, a multi-faceted approach was utilized to identify comprehensive solutions to the ongoing stormwater runoff problems in the community and simultaneously reduce sediment pollution to the downstream receiving impaired stream, Culbertson Run. This water quality benefit helped the Township to meet their sediment reduction obligations as part of their NPDES MS4 Permit Pollutant Reduction Plan (PRP).
